SHABBAT ~~ IN HEBREW MEANS "HE RESTED"
SATURDAY IS THE 7TH DAY OF THE WEEK.
GENESIS 2.2 STATES THAT GOD "SET APART " THE SEVENTH DAY AFTER FINISHING THE WORK OF THE CREATION.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
WE AREN'T SUPPOSED TO WORK OR TO IMPOSE ON PEOPLE TO WORK, NOT TO SHOP.
PASSOVER ; Passover starts at sundown, immediately followed by the Feast of Unleavened Bread from sundown (the first and seventh days are High Holy Days).
Exo 12:24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
Exo 12:25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.
Exo 12:26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
Exo 12:27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
On the tenth day of the month, the very day the Passover lamb was selected, Yeshua rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. This is the announcement that Yeshua is the Passover Lamb. As the people were all choosing their Passover lambs, the Almighty orchestrated this declaration of THE Passover Lamb.
Passover is the ultimate celebration of our deliverance from sin (Egypt) through the sacrifice and resurrection of Messiah Yeshua!
FIRST FRUITS
Following Passover is the Feast of Unleavened Bread, a seven-day feast during which nothing is eaten that contains leaven.
SHAVUOT: HEBREW WORD MEANS "WEEKS", WE ARE TO COUNT 7 WEEKS UP TO THE DAY OF SHAVUOT FROM THE FIRST DAY OF FIRST FRUITS . IT IS ALSO THE PERIOD OF SPRING WHEN THE BARLEY HARVEST AND THE WHEAT HARVEST
PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW THE TORAH ARE KNOWN TO COUNT "THE OMER" AND TO COUNT EACH DAY (49 DAYS) 50TH DAY IS SHAVUOT
THE " OMER" IS A UNIT OF MEASURE IN THE BIBLE AND REFERS TO THE MEASURE OF BARLEY, THAT IS USED IN THE "WAVE" OFFERING ON THE DAY OF FIRST FRUITS.
The Feast of Weeks
Lev 23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Lev 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
Lev 23:17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.
Lev 23:18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.
Lev 23:19 Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings.
Lev 23:20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.
Lev 23:21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
Lev 23:22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
YOM TERUAH ALSO KNOWN AS THE " DAY OF TRUMPETS" THE FIRST OF THE FALL FEASTS .
The Feast of Trumpets
Lev 23:23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
Lev 23:25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
ITS ALSO A REHEARSAL OF THE YOM TERUAH FOR WHEN JESUS RETURNS.
YOM KIPPUR: IT'S HELD ON THE 10TH DAY OF THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE MONTH. We are told on this day, not to do any work " to afflict our souls" or to "deny ourselves" In most , that is fasting or not eating. From Sunset of the day before the feast to Sunset of the day of the feast. If your not able to fast. you can deny yourself something that afflicts your soul, like refraining from
Not watching television
Not playing games
Avoiding the internet
Not making phone calls
It is meant to be a day of rest , not to work .
The Day of Atonement
Lev 23:26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Lev 23:28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
Lev 23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
Lev 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
Lev 23:31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
Lev 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
SUKKOT-( ALSO KNOWN AS THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES) - 8 DAYS
During the feast of Sukkot we remember when the Almighty led the Israelites out of Egypt, and they lived in shelters in the wilderness for 40 years. For Sukkot , we are supposed to build a temporary shelter and stay in it for the 8 day feast. It's meant to remind us of our need for Gods provisions and for a reminder that this life on earth is temporary, like the sukkot itself.
Lev 23:35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
Lev 23:36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.
HANUKKAH~~( NOT A COMMANDED FEAST LIKE THE PREVIOUS.)
THE MEANING OF HANUKKAH IS TO CELEBRATE THE POWER OF GOD'S PEOPLE OVER THOSE WHO WANT TO DESTROY THE OUR FAITH.
